ISBN & Metadata Setup

ISBN Number & Listing Service

Every professionally published book requires proper identification and cataloguing.
We provide ISBN assignment, barcode generation, and metadata registration services to ensure your book is recognized globally.

What is an ISBN?

The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique numeric identifier assigned to each published book or edition.

An ISBN:

  • Identifies your book internationally

  • Distinguishes one edition from another

  • Enables bookstores and distributors to track sales

  • Allows libraries and institutions to catalogue your book

  • Supports efficient global distribution

Each format of your book (paperback, hardcover, eBook) requires its own ISBN

Buying an ISBN Through Us

We can assign your title a unique ISBN and complete the necessary registration and setup process.

This service includes:

  • Assignment of a unique ISBN

  • Registration with appropriate bibliographic systems

  • Updating Canadian Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) Program (where applicable)

  • Submission of required National Library data

  • Barcode generation with embedded ISBN

  • Placement of barcode on your rear cover

This ensures your book meets professional publishing and distribution standards

Legal Deposit Requirement (Canada)

If an ISBN is assigned through us and your book is distributed in Canada:

Canadian law requires that two (2) copies of every printed publication be deposited with Library and Archives Canada (LAC) within one week of publication.

We handle this process for you.

Important notes:

  • A minimum of two printed copies must be ordered to satisfy this requirement

  • Only one copy is required for materials with a print run under 100 (including Print-on-Demand)

  • Shipping and processing fees for legal deposit will apply

This ensures your publication complies with Canadian legal deposit regulations

Publisher Listing

If you purchase your ISBN through us:

Achievers Publishing will be listed as the official publisher for bibliographic and reporting purposes.

This does not affect your copyright ownership.

You retain full copyright to your written content.

Using Your Own ISBN

You may use your own ISBN or ASIN if:

  • It is registered under your name or publishing entity

  • You are the legally recognized publisher

If you use your own ISBN:

  • Our name does not need to appear as publisher

  • You maintain full publisher-of-record status

We can still assist with:

  • Barcode generation and placement

  • Distribution setup

  • Metadata optimization

Important Clarifications

ISBN assignment is format-specific (each edition requires its own ISBN)

  • ISBN ownership does not transfer copyright

  • Legal deposit requirements apply where mandated by law

  • Distribution can still be arranged whether you use our ISBN or your own

Metadata Setup

Metadata is the information retailers use to categorize and sell your book.

This includes:

  • Book title

  • Subtitle

  • Author name

  • Book description

  • BISAC subject categories

  • Keywords

  • Retail pricing

  • Distribution settings

Accurate metadata improves:

  • Discoverability

  • Retail search ranking

  • Online visibility

We ensure your metadata is properly structured for global distribution.
