The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a number that uniquely identifies books and book-like products published internationally. The purpose of the ISBN is to establish and identify one title or edition of a title from one specific publisher and is unique to that edition, allowing for more efficient marketing of products by booksellers, libraries, universities, wholesalers and distributors.
Buying ISBN Number from Us
For $72.30, we will assign your title a unique ISBN number. However this price does not just cover the purchase of an actual ISBN number. This covers:
Ø Updating Canadian Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) Program, and the National Library CIP data.
Ø Designing and inputting a barcode with your ISBN imbedded on your rear cover.
What Happen When You Buy ISBN Number from Us
Ø If you buy an ISBN number from us, you must buy a minimum of 2 copies of your book to satisfy the legal requirement to send two (2) free copies of every printed publication that is distributed in Canada to the Library and Archives Canada (LAC), within one week of publication. This is regardless of where the author lives. We will despatch these copies out to the LAC for you. The standard postage and packing cost for this service to the LAC is $14.50 for the two books. Please note: Only one copy is required for materials with a print run of less than 100 (including Print-on-Demand)
Ø If you buy an ISBN number from us, Achievers Publishing House will be listed as the 'publisher' for the purpose of all book data reports.
Do I Have To Use Your Fulfilment Service When I Buy ISBN Number?
No, you are not under any obligation to use our fulfilment/distribution service, but you'd be daft not to! There are a lot to again when you do.
Using Your Own ISBN/ASIN Number
You can use your own ISBN/ASIN number if it belongs to you in that you are the properly registered 'publisher'. If this is the case our name need not appear anywhere on the publication. However, if you use your own ISBN/ASIN number, we can still help you to:
Ø Generate and add a barcode to your book for just $15.
Ø Distribute your books at exactly the same fulfilment prices if you decide to join our fulfilment/distribution service.
