Step-By-Step Guide
In order to start your publishing process you need to follow our step-by-step guide to self publishing your own book, which takes you through everything you need to do to prepare to publish your own book. But you don't have to do all the work. When your manuscript is ready, we provide all the help you need to get your book published. Step 4 - Assess Your Work
Upon receiving your manuscript, our team will assess the work required.
Step 5 – Contact You Regarding Payments
At this stage, we shall then contact you promptly regarding payment terms and any queries our design studio may have. We will ask for 50% or the full payment of the setup fee so that we can proceed.
Step 6 – Formatting/Design Starts
At this stage, you will then be assigned a consultant – who will then gather all additional information from you that we need to start the formatting of your interior and the design of your cover. If you intend for us to design your bookcover, then, you will choose your book cover design from our free sample or tell us what you want. Your consultant will be your first point of contact throughout the production of your book.
Step 7 - Send You Electronic Proof Copy
Once we have formatted your manuscript and designed your cover, we will at this stage convert your files to print-ready PDF files. And then, we will send you the PDF proofs of both your Bookblock and Bookcover to check for any errors. We aim to turn around initial proof copies within 3-7 working days. These files are sent to your email, you must carefully check both the text and cover. You confirm the proofs are to your satisfaction, or provide a list of corrections. Once you are happy with your proofs, you can instruct API to proceed - no further work will commence until we receive a feedback from you. Thereafter, we will only then ask for the remaining 50% of the setup fee if you have not made your full payment at stage 5.
Please note that for extensive changes to the text file you may be charged our hourly rate for studio time
Step 8 – You Confirm or Decide on Pricing
At this stage, based on your chosen pricing at setup, we will send you some examples, calculations, and guidance notes of what we think the best retail, wholesale distribution discount (percentage) and author royalties (amount you earn per book) should be for your book. However, the final decision is yours, so if you wish to change the amount you will earn per book, then this is fine.
